Ok now i have your attention lets talk about game storylines.
Now back when i was little and in the ps1 era i hadnt known of a game with an amazing stoyline just the ussual go save the world/princess/prince/sexual partner at the end/family member thing well that changed when i picked up a magazine with a free demo of new games and what was the star attraction?

Metal Gear solid
i took one look at the e3's first trailer of it (and if i find it i shall link it)

anyway the game intreiged me so i thought id try the demo of it and to be honest i fell for it even with the story too it looked amazing oh and the theme blew me away
now getting straight into it the first game i shared with my brother and he seemed to get through most of the hard parts.

I mainly focused on the silly stuff like beating up crows and running around in boxes and later using the stealth camo to punch a guy taking a piss.

but as i got to beat it myself and later get the stealth camo and bandana i took note of the story and quite honestly was blown away

like finding out about a cyborg ninja your fighting is really a old friend of yours(grey fox),
who later you find out you killed in your last mission.
also you had to kill big boss during that misson only to find out he was snake's true father seriously having to kill your own father to finish your job and save the world? after killing your best friend? its no wonder snake seemed so distant to others.
finding out youve been infected with a virus which will kill all the enemys and then you because you killed grey fox and she was a his little sister,
during a fight with the metal gear getting saved by grey fox and being told that his sister is really a girl he made a orphan and didnt have the heart to kill her too.
annnnd finding out that the main bad guy is your twin brother that both of you are clones of your father and that you are the dominant doner with all the dominent genes of big boss,
among many other plot points

and as you go along in the game you fight amazing odds starting fighting off a load of soldiers when escaping the jailcell then later a tank singlehandedly,then a cyborg ninja who likes to fight you in single handed combat fighting a pychic telepath a born sniper,a hind helicopter singlehandedly, a guy with a minigun and then a giant mecha on your own after i beat it i got the second game in anticipaton to find out more the second game supprised me in more ways then one originally the who snake isnt in it anymore and instead theres raiden.

Now i went along with this trend of not liking raiden but the more i played it the more it made sense as being raiden seeing as what they wanted was to make the character like the player so they made him a blank slate and later gave him a background to show he did have a character basically metal gear solid 2 was bassically a 4th wall breaker and speaking straight to us.

"find something to beleive in and find it yourself and when you do pass it onto the future" with which raiden replys "beleif in what?" because up until now we had been told what to beleive in with which snake replys "thats your problem" and as for the whole s3 plan of to create a soldeir up to pa with solid snake via virtually recreating his missions he had to create was another 4th wall breaker bassically telling us we have been training virtually snakes memories of his mission's which leads to metal gear solid 2's major plot point

The la-li-lu-le-lo
the la-li-lu-le-lo were a major mind screw at the end of the storyline which was like a origization built to basically control the united states and tell the storys of what "really happened" and had up until the point of meeting solid snake influenced your actions every step of the way by simply not telling you certain info and making it so you had to win because they had kidnaped a innocent girl born from one of the terrorists involved in the incident.

So to win to save a child but appart from that you have no reason to fight soildus who turned out to originally be a president who was a 3rd big boss clone but has aged quicker then solid snake had killed raiden's parents and raised him to kill people.

Ok so 2 down now to go on about the rest...go me

metal gear solid 3 snake eater
well..your not snake but instead big boss.
this was a big supprise after all he had been by this time in the story been a villian with no real sense of humanity but in this game you are fighting not a metal gear but instead a shagohod which was a tank with a ability to launch a nuke via a runway and during this mission you find out big boss's tutor the boss has defected to the enemys lines and you have to fight her and her team with the help of a foxy defected woman calling herself eva.
as you get through the game big boss survived a broken arm falling off a massive cliff into a river (twice) and being extrememly close to a nukelur explosion..all in the first 20mins of playing... just wow

And what with this being metal gear the storyline goes mental but very good...the very last part of the game litteraly puts a tear in my eye every time i play it its something that just tugs your heartstring..

ok now seeing as before metal gear i hadnt played the first 2 until subsistance came out with them both included and let me say metal gear isnt that much plot wise,metal gear 2 is what grabbed my attention..straight away the game has a intro i was asstounded with and if i can link i shall


just the music, was like @.@ at it
and of course i got through it you get betrayed by a guy whos on your side you fight grey fox in a mine field just as they said in mgs1 BUT the big boss is snakes father bit was nowhere to be found ,maybe it was just a later plot point they wanted to sit on.
least to say i enjoyed the series so far including the originals
ok now the last one

Metal gear solid 4
i started this game up in the ps3 i knew what i was in for sort of.
it blew me away again the series had got to the grand final
and i was ready to go through it like i had with the others
this game made me weep it really did but it also almost made my jaw drop to the floor at parts including
the raiden vs vamp fight in the streets
the second fight between them
the fight with laughing octapus..just wow
the driving part with eva and later the part where revolver ocolot shoots things out of the air WITH HIS FINGER,
The metal gear fight and the cutscene that follows,
The part snake gets cornered by soldiers and his spazzing out on the floor only to be saved by a armless raiden and he fights em all of with a sword in his mouth and meryl and johney fighting those soldiers to hold em off from snake
The heart string part is obviously the part your in the microwave tunnel and you start walking through it and at the end its you will to make snake survive and get thorugh is all thats left pushing him on by a simple tap the button sequence and the part you think snake has died in the graveyard and he has the gun in his mouth,only to find out he couldnt do it to see someone he thought he had killed long ago,

snake automatically goes to cqc big boss but big boss counters him and instead of hurting him hugs him and snake holds his father as he dies finally with big boss saying "this is good isnt it?".

yes it is was and will be big boss

i love this games due to the simple fact is it dont treat the player like a complete idiot and it engages its key audeince something i havent seen in any other sort of media in a while

And for that reason is why i love metal gear franchise.
